A brief history...

Rockshop Wholesale is a division of Burhouse Ltd, a company with over 35 years experience in the Gemstone and Gift trade.

Clinton Burhouse established Burhouse Ltd in 1969 after studying Geology at London’s Imperial College. The company first traded in minerals and fossils before prospering from the lapidary tumbling craze in the early seventies where Clinton used the family farmhouse to distribute more than 200 tonnes of tumbling rough from around the world.

Since then the company has diversified into jewellery components, semi precious cut stones, New Age crystals and, in the late 90’s sourced, imported and packed over 30 million individual stones in over 200 varieties from all over the globe to supply the “Treasures of the Earth” magazine, which was sold in over 10 countries.

Today we are still a small family business based at Quarmby Mills (not far from the old farm) supplying over 6,000 customers from as far afield as Alaska to New Zealand. We are constantly sourcing and developing new products and regularly commission our customer’s ideas for production with our overseas suppliers.
